WILLIAM J. BRYANT - Adaptable, diverse. Those two words best describe Bill and his practice. A product of the Birmingham public school system, he obtained his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Alabama and began his professional career in 1974 in Selma, Alabama, as a general practitioner with a concentration in real estate law. Recognizing the unique estate planning challenges facing rural landowners, Bill returned to school in 1977 and, after two years of commuting to classes while continuing to practice on a regular basis, he obtained a Master of Laws in Taxation degree, with high honors, from the University of Alabama School of Law.

Bill's tax degree not only enhanced his real estate and estate planning practice, but enabled him to develop a transactional practice that has covered a broad spectrum, ranging from the purchase and sale of owner-managed businesses to complex financing transactions for governmental entities involving hundreds of millions of dollars. Thriving on creative solutions to complex issues, and believing that "if you are through changing, you are through", Bill considers himself forever a student of the ever-changing tax laws. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America.

A strong proponent of community service, Bill is an alumnus of Leadership Birmingham and has served in leadership positions at both the local and national levels. Whether promoting business development through the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce or public health as chairman of the national board of directors of the American Heart Association, Bill is guided by the words of George Bernard Shaw, "You see things that are and say, 'why?' But I dream things that never were and say, 'why not?'"
